Matt’s heritage work embodies the inspiration we draw from fine woodworking masters. Heritage pieces are usually created on commission to ensure that they fit the customer’s need, scale, size, style and budget.
Commission typically begins with a visit to the woodshop, to find inspiration in stacks of rough wood and finished pieces on display. The wood’s age and, in some cases, previous uses can lend a quality and appearance hard to feign with new growth timber.
While the designs are timeless and beautiful, they are constructed using time-proven construction methods and strong, old-source wood. Built to last and meant to be used. The goal of each commission is a piece that will be handed down generation after generation: that treasured family heirloom that inspires a love of craftsmanship.
